David Llewellyn series

In Tassie it was time for our Queen’s series as Match Rifle and F Class and the 1,500 yds had been shot a week earlier.  First up was the David Llewellyn series, a two day match, but due to some very heavy rain state-wide it was only shot on day two with 5 ranges in total for the aggregate.  A double 500 then 800, 900 and 1000 yds to finish.

There were 38 shooters in the various grades.  TR-A was won by Michael Millen from Mosman Neutral Bay with a score of 263-20, second was Peter Maher of Lilydale with 260-22 and then Gordon Duncan from Central with 260-21.

Shooters on the mound.

In TR-B, Paul Joyce of Mundaring 41 was the winner with 240-8 followed by John Hope from Launceston VDC 238-10, then Tony Logan of Ipswich & District with 235-7.

My old school friend and next door neighbour Simon Dickenson of Mundaring 41 top scored in TR-C with 218-8.

In FS-A Craig Weaire of Nagambie was the winner with 309-12, next was Daniel Galea from Narromine-Dubbo with 306-15 and then Bob Pedersen of Wodonga on 298-16.

Cedric May from Canberra RC was the winner of FS-B with 288-5, next was Gerald Upchurch from Sandford with 261-10 followed by Stephen Tamassy of Smithton on 255-4.

F Open saw Trevor Jury of Rosedale the winner with a score of 320-23.  Next was Terry Sheedy from Townsville Marksmen on 306-16 and Launceston VDC shooter Steve Clark on 299-11.

All the remaining scores of all the match can be found on the NRAA Results web page.

Queen’s

The next day, under some cold and overcast conditions our Tassie Queen’s started. Only 44 shooters turned up to shoot, but with all that is happening in the world today I can understand why people didn’t want to travel.

A cool and overcast start saw the wind keeping all shooters on their windage arms through the day.

A special thank you to all the members of the TRA on the range and the kitchen and the office and to Catherine Berry who came down and helped out with all the scores and posting on the NRAA results page.

I think we were very lucky to get our Queen’s shot as now most sporting events have been put on hold until further notice, a couple of months or more.

Until then, then stay safe and well.
