The Perth Fremantle Rifle Club is the merger of two clubs both established in 1902. We are fortunate to have many old photos, trophies and other historical items. The Club has seized an opportunity to place records of its memorabilia and artefacts online for all to appreciate. The Club is using https://collectionswa.net.au to record its heritage collection and make them available to the public.
Collections WA is a free, searchable platform and is overseen by the Australian Museums and Galleries Association Western Australia, and the Western Australian Museum.
We have also published our first story on the site about one of our celebrated members from yesteryear, William Garrity. Garrity got into rifle shooting in the early 1900s when a member of the Albany Garrison Artillery. He went on to win two King’s Prizes and travelled to Bisley as an emergency member of the Australian Team in 1913 (see https://collectionswa.net.au/node/59205 ).
A history of our club can be found on our website: http://www.perthfremantlerifleclub.asn.au/history.html
The photos show Garrity’s King’s badge (currently on display in the West Australian Rifle Association Museum) and his 1913 Bisley top 100 badge.
