A number of NRAA’s State and Territory biathlon members recently attended the Australian National Championships Selection Races 1 & 2, which were held at the Mt. Hotham Biathlon Range. The biathletes were competing for selection to the Winter Youth Olympic Games, Australian National Team, Australian National Junior Team and the Australian Development Team. The competition was fierce starting with the Sprint race, skiing between 3km to 7.5km, and 2 x 5 shot visits to the Range, followed by the Individual Race, skiing between 3km to 10km, and 4 x 5 shot visits to the Range.

Click here for the race results and congratulations to Samuel Johnson (ACT – Canberra Rifle Club) and Ava McCann (NSW – USI Rifle Club) for currently ranking No 1 in the Youth Olympic trial results.

A 2nd weekend of racing is scheduled to be held in mid-September to finalise selection to the 2023-24 Australian biathlon teams, subject to snow conditions.

A number of the biathletes competing train at Anzac Rifle Range (NSW) and Canberra Rifle Club (ACT) during off-snow season and receive great support from their Clubs and State & Territory Associations.
