The National Rifle Association of Australia (NRAA) is honoured to announce that Her Excellency the Honourable Ms Sam Mostyn AC, Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia, has accepted the Association’s invitation to serve as Patron
This continues a proud tradition of vice-regal patronage, recognising the NRAA’s long history and contribution to Australian sport. Since 1861, the NRAA has represented thousands of members through its State and Territory associations, providing pathways from grassroots competition through to the international stage.
The Governor-General’s patronage comes as the NRAA looks ahead to hosting the prestigious Australia Match in 2026 at the Belmont Shooting Complex, Queensland — an event first contested in 1907, attracting the world’s best long-range rifle teams
NRAA President Brigadier (Retd) Bruce Scott CSC ADC welcomed the appointment, highlighting the importance of continuing to foster excellence, inclusion, and participation across the sport.
