Congratulations to NSWRA biathlon member Phoenix Sparke who has been awarded a Sport Australia Hall of Fame (SAHOF) Scholarship.
Phoenix was awarded a Tier 3 scholarship along with 15 other young athletes across a wide range of sports including swimming, speed skating, boxing, fencing, diving, and gymnastics along with a number of other sports. The scholarships are awarded to athletes who are identified as rising stars in their sport with each athlete receiving a grant of $2,500 plus support from SAHOF and its esteemed member base over the next 15 months.
For the 2023-24 international biathlon season, Phoenix will be competing at International Biathlon Union (IBU) events including Junior World Championships (in Estonia) and the Winter Youth Olympic Games, being held January 2024 in South Korea.
