The National Rifle Association of Australia (NRAA) is calling for Expressions of Interest (EOI) from Target Rifle members wishing to trial for the ICFRA Pairs Match, held in conjunction with the Australia Match schedule.
The NRAA board recognise the format is the same as past Commonwealth Games pairs matches and have approved the following process. We wish to communicate it openly and in advance for those interested.

We invite interest from athletes seeking selection in:
• TR Open Pairs
• TR Under 25 (U25) Pairs

Trial Commitment

Open athletes nominating must commit to attending and competing at:

  • New South Wales Rifle Association (NSWRA) King’s (26-27-28 June, 2026)
  • Queensland Rifle Association (QRA) King’s (14-15-16 August, 2026)
  • U25 nominees who are unable to travel to the above King’s are required to submit to the National Rifle Association of Australia (NRAA) two or three available weekend dates between the New South Wales Rifle Association (NSWRA) and Queensland Rifle Association (QRA) King’s. These dates will be used to arrange the shooting of equivalent King’s ranges at a location convenient to the nominee. Scores and plots will then be required to be forwarded to the NRAA.

Selection Overview – Target Rifle Open

Objective Component

  • King’s scores will be added together, and shooters will be automatically ranked.
  • The Top 10 shooters will be identified based on scores and be considered by the NRAA selection committee
  • From these, the Top 6 will be selected for pairs and reserves, with final decisions considering score weightings and pair composition value.

Subjective Component

The ICFRA Pairs format reflects a Commonwealth Games–style structure, requiring athletes to:

  • Perform strongly individually
  • Demonstrate the ability to wind coach and support their teammate closely

Consideration will also be given to:

  • Current or previous international and/or state team experience
  • Team fit and complementary pair combinations

The NRAA will make the final determination on suitability of selected pairs through a selection committee recommendation and a board approval of process.

TR Under 25 (U25)

  • Top 5 ranked objectively from the two King’s scores or submitted scores
  • 3 athletes selected, with final determination by NRAA

Additional Notes

  • The NRAA Ranking System may be used to assist decision-making.
  • All NRAA members are welcome and encouraged to nominate, you do not need to be a member of a current representative team.
  • If you are committed to high performance, strong team dynamics, and representing Australia in the ICFRA Pairs format, we encourage you to submit your Expression of Interest.

Please click HERE to submit your Expression of Interest.

Expressions of Interest close on Tuesday 17 March 2026.
