Peter Ridgway, Asst Development Officer, Perth Fremantle Rifle Club

70 shooters contested the WA Metropolitan Districts Rifle Association Prize Meeting on the 23 August 2025. With a dire weather forecast for the Sunday, the two day PM program was compressed into one. Seven matches were shot instead of the usual four with the PM being coined the Metro Marathon. Saturday’s weather was near perfect and many great scores were recorded. 50s and 60s were the norm for many. Two shooters returned perfect scores: David Bliss (Pinjar Rifle Club) returned a 60.10 in FTR at 700m and Stuart Bice (Perth Fremantle RC) shot a 50.10 in PC also at 700m.

Perth Fremantle Rifle Club’s Stuart Bice (350.52) and Damion Clover (350.42) never dropped a shot over the 7 matches with Brett Boneham just behind on 349.39 in PC. Stuart was the lone Metro Districts club winner of the Grand Aggregate with all the other winners from country clubs. Robert Cuthbert (Darkan RC) also returned a drop free score of 350.48 in PCO.

Congratulations to the Grand Aggregate winners: Mark Milentis (Manjimup RC) Division 1 TR, Brett Morgan (Manjimup RC) Division 2 TR, Mahlon Reid (Boddington RC) Division 1 FStd, Hugh Bryan (Moora RC) Division 2 FStd, Goran Prvulic (Beverley RC) F Open, Brendan Pratt (Moora RC) FTR, Stuart Bice (Perth Freo RC) PC, Robert Cuthbert (Darkan RC) PCO.

Mahlon Reid (Boddington RC) was presented with a certificate by Gary Craigie, immediate past chairman of WARA, for more than 60 years of service to our sport. Well done Mahlon.
