The NRAA is pleased to release the final draft of the updated Standard Shooting Rules (SSR) for review and comment.
This draft reflects the considered work of the NRAA Rules Committee and incorporates feedback received during earlier consultation phases. Chapters 1–3 (General Rules, Target Rifle, F-Class, and Sporter/Hunter) are now available for final review by all affiliated State and Territory Associations prior to Board approval and publication.
The remaining chapters (Service Rifle, Match Rifle, Field, and Biathlon) are currently being finalised and will be released shortly for consultation. These will follow the same feedback process and timelines outlined below.

Updated 10 July 2025 – A revised version of the SSRs has been uploaded to correct a formatting omission in the Target Dimensions annex. No other changes made.
Feedback Process
To ensure an efficient and consistent review process:
- All feedback must be submitted via your State or Territory Rifle Association.
- Individual submissions sent directly to the NRAA will not be considered.
- We encourage members to provide their feedback to their Association by the date listed below.
Key Dates
- Member feedback to S&T Associations: by 18 July 2025
- Consolidated feedback from S&T Associations to NRAA: by 31 July 2025
The NRAA Rules Committee will review all submissions and present a final recommendation to the Board. Until the revised SSR is formally approved and published, the current version of the SSR remains in effect.
